Self-Care

“Learn to treat yourself well.”

Make time to care for your emotional, mental, and physical well-being every day while treating yourself with kindness and respect. Start by incorporating a healthy daily routine into your life. It can be eating something you like that is good for you, exercising, taking walks or reserving quiet time for yourself. Learn something new or try something you have always had a desire to do. Reap the rewards of feeling satisfied and happy for accomplishing something daily, even if it is a small task. Accomplishment and satisfaction produce a sense of happiness and fulfillment.

Self-Care Exercises

Nature– Spend time in nature, while observing the beauty that surrounds you. Take a hike or go to the park and enjoy the outdoors.

Meditation- Start a meditation practice for three to five minutes a day. Meditation can help you distress and find your inner-peace.

Exercise- Consider starting a healthy exercise routine. I personally love yoga and hiking, discover what you like and incorporate a weekly routine into your own life.

Nutrition- Start feeding your body with nutritious foods. I’m not asking you to omit anything, I’m asking you to add in something that is good for you. Add one health meal or smoothie into your daily routine. Learn to treat your body well.

Positive Self-talk– You have a choice to either focus on positive thoughts, expressions and actions or negative ones. You are what you think. The more you think or say positive things, the more positive things you will receive. Focus on the positive in and around your life.

-      What good qualities can I see in myself and others?

Over the next week don’t try to take on the world. Just make one change and make it count. Remember it is all about what you cando – not what you shoulddo. Treat yourself like you would your best friend if she was taking on a new practice of some kind. Recognize all of your accomplishments and remember it is a practice not an absolute.

Which practice are you taking on for the next week?

 OneWeek Follow-up:

-       How much better do I feel about myself?

-       How many times did I smile this week when I completed one of my practices?
